Our Story:
The Spirit of Kaua‘i Brewed Fresh

Positioned as the “World’s Westernmost Brewery,” the journey of Kaua‘i Island Brewing Company began nearly 25 years ago in the quaint town of Waimea, originally known as Waimea Brewing Company. For over a decade, we thrived within the charming backdrop of the historic Waimea Plantation Cottages.

As the “Worlds Westernmost Brewery”, owners of Kaua‘i Island Brewing Company has its origins almost 25 years ago a bit further west in the little town of Waimea as Waimea Brewing Company. For 13 years Waimea Brewing Company operated out of the historic Waimea Plantation Cottages.

However, when the lease was up, owners Bret and Janice Larson, along with their brewmaster Dave Curry, decided to partner up, creating Kaua‘i Island Brewing Company and move the location to Port Allen where they would have more space to serve great food and brew the delicious beers they were known for.

Our renovated haven in the industrial precinct of Port Allen Center proudly showcases an industrial design that mirrors our commitment to authentic craftsmanship. We feature the largest assortment of classic vintage and new pinball machines in all of Hawaii. The towering 35-foot high structure, crafted from corrugated metal and steel I-Beams, offers an airy ambiance. Yet, it’s the vintage vibe—chandeliers hanging, a catwalk leading to a mezzanine, and the breathtaking sunsets over Hanapepe Bay—that truly enchants our guests.

Our mission goes beyond brewing. We prioritize Kaua‘i’s bounties, sourcing vegetables, beef, fish, and herbs locally. As we aim to tantalize Kaua‘i’s palates, our pledge is also to safeguard its pristine beauty. Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering: biodegradable essentials, eco-friendly practices, and our recognition as an Ocean Friendly Restaurant.

Our extensive pub menu, from appetizers to entrees, captures the essence of local produce. For our younger guests, we have a dedicated keiki menu. And while our beers take center stage, our full bar ensures wine aficionados and cocktail enthusiasts are equally delighted.
